Californians for Disability Rights, Inc--CDR was originally organized in 1970 with five people as CAPH (the California Association of the Physically Handicapped) --with 5 members and now has chapters statewide. CDR has grown to become an effective and widely respected cross-disAbility organization of people with disAbilities in CA.
Chapters serve local or regional areas or form around an issue. Chapter delegates serve on the governing board, the State Council.
CDR encourages you to get involved in Disability Civil Rights! Work with others to make changes happen at the state and local level.
When you join CDR, your voice will be heard in Sacramento. CDR, as Californian's largest cross-disability advocacy organization, has compiled a solid record of legislative achievement.
Among our many accomplishments:
Local Chapters work to improve: Transportation, Housing, Access Enforcement, Education, Jobs, Social Support Programs, IHSS, Healthcare, Long Term Care, Independence, and Quality of Life
